So what does everyone think? Personally, I like the tracklisting for I SING ALL KINDS...although I'm not really crazy about the CD title! (Although I clearly understand why they chose that title for the CD considering the different styles of music that are included on it!)

I'm very interested to see what alternate takes are included on the new RAISED ON ROCK reissue!! (y)

Not too sure about the EASY COME, EASY GO reissue though. In several interviews with Ernst Jorgensen, he has stated that the tapes with the alternate recordings from those sessions were missing! So, unless they have found those missing tapes, there are only a couple of alternate takes that have been released from those sessions in the past. Combining those with the mono masters and the newly discovered stereo mixes is still going to make the EASY COME, EASY GO CD a VERY short CD! :hmm:

I'm looking to these titles:D The 1971 outtakes is LONGGGGGG overdue imo.

I do wish they'd chosen a different movie soundtrack and also included a live concert, but hey....I'm just happy to have FTD around and all of the material they bring us!

The 1971 outtakes are long overdue but I wish they could leave the Christmas songs until Christmas season and not in the middle of the year.
On the Japanese news it says that Pot Luck is for July 9th release and not Raised On Rock. So who is right on these releases. I would buy the Pot Luck instead Raised On Rock.

I've always said that 1971 is the most overlooked year from the '70s. Look how long it took for a live show to be released (the fabulous FTD release The Impossible Dream).

As for the studio stuff, there are certainly a lot of gems in '71 (and quite a few dogs too).

I agree that the Christmas stuff should have been released in another form (how about an FTD - two discs - of Christmas outtakes?).

Raised on Rock was his weakest '70s album (and possibly the most ironic title, too, as it's just not a rock album at all). But it did have the coolest of all the album jumpsuit pics, IMO. The outtakes could be interesting here.

As for Easy Come, Easy Go ... no thanks. Some of the "between song" banter may prove interesting. I have a fantasy of Elvis blurting out "Why am I singin' this s**t!" I won't be buying this one; I can live happily without it.

Yes they could save the Christmas outtakes for a Christmas album later this year. I know you don't have to buy it now. It's still silly releasing Christmas songs now. The outtakes for Raised On Rock sounded better than the album we had. Easy Come, Easy Go wasn't that special.

I'm looking forward to these releases. To have some of the out-takes from Raised on Rock will be great (a very overlooked album, IMHO). Truly excited about the 1971 release. I agree the title seems weak. BUT, as long as the material is good who cares about the title. A good mixture of music from 71.

This is great news. Nashville '71 is a release we've been wanting for years. The earlier titles in the Nashville series were released in much quicker succession, like Ernst was perhaps more excited personally about those projects. And hey, that's fine, it's his prerogative. I'm just glad it's finally coming.

Like some of you observed, the ideal may seem to be a complete album of the secular songs from these sessions, but this is consistent with the normal way of doing things for FTD. Look at the last Nashville release, So High: 9 of the 25 tracks were religious tunes.

That's just the way these sessions went. Gospel, folk, country, Christmas...it was all recorded then. So the title makes sense even if the line was something the man said many years prior; it appled throughout his entire career. That perhaps makes the line even more significant than it already seems due to the circumstance of its uttering.

The other thing is that I doubt that much of the secular stuff is being held back and so if we didn't have the Christmas songs on this release, we may have had a very short CD. But I haven't looked into the session information to see what we aren't getting. Someone please chime in if my hunch is incorrect.

One thing does come to mind because it is something that I've never heard and thought might be on this, and that is the attempts at recording a duet of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face with Ginger Holladay and Temple Riser. I have heard that the results were not fantastic, but I would like to hear them. Guess I may have to track down whichever boots they are on.

Raised On Rock should be very interesting as well. Vocally Elvis certainly was not in peak form, but many of those songs do have strong appeal regardless and the ones heard on Made In Memphis have really good sound.

Thanks for posting the news, Mike.

Thanks for posting the news, Mike.

My pleasure pal!! (y)

Sadly though, I just found THIS information on ElvisNews.com:

Ernst Jorgensen informed us about the fact that there will be no regular 5" releases each quarter anymore, like they used to do the last years.

There where some confusing articles on the internet the last days about the upcoming FTD releases. The three issues that are confirmed are "I Sing All Kinds" and 2 issues in the 7" Classic Series; "Easy Come, Easy Go" and "Raised On Rock".

The first single disc contains a collection of studio outtakes from the Nashville sessions in 1971. The soundtrack CD is also a single disc release and contains the recently discovered stereo mixes. "Raised On Rock" will be a 2-disc edition.

So, if I am reading this right, basically what Ernst is saying is that the 5" release are going to become more sporadically released and that they are going to concentrate more on the 7" reissues?? :hmm:

If that is the case, then it is a sad day! It would appear that the vaults are finally becoming more empty and they don't have enough material left to release the 5" CD's on a regular basis anymore, so eventually, we're going to have to settle for the few unreleased outtakes that will appear on the 7" reissued "Classic Album" CD's. It was obvious that eventually the unreleased material would run out, but the news is saddening, nonetheless... :'(
