While I enjoyed all Elvis' films ....{they were fun} .I appreciated Charro because I got the chance to see he could have been an actor if he'd been given the chance . :)

"Girl Happy" just pure unrealistic fun from the 60s. I also liked "Tickle Me" for the same reason. "
Charro" gave Elvis a little more to work with and he took advantage of it but IMO the script just was'nt that good. The guy who wrote the screenplay, Charles Marquis Warren-also directed and produced it. Warren produced many "Rawhide" tv episodes in the late 50s early 60s. (Clint Eastwood was the co-star of that series). He may have just took on too much for one guy with "Charro" But I liked what Elvis did with what he was given.

I like Charro! It was a very different role for Elvis. I was raised watching westerns by my dad (Do you think a girl liking westerns a bit odd?). I was caught between Charro! and Blue Hawaii. I love them both!

Plain and simple, my favorite is "Girl Happy". Elvis and Shelley Fabares are great together, (and I always thought she was his prettiest, sexiest co-star) the script is great and the music is better than most other of his films. Elvis looks great, and to me, I always got the feeling he had fun working on this project....you can see it in his eyes, hear it in his voice. It is a very funny movie, and I just love the scene where Elvis is bringing Shelley back to the hotel in a mad dash with her in the motorboat behind him! Pure slapstick fun. I also loved the other movies Shelley was in with Elvis also....

King Creole is Elvis' best acting role there's no doubt about it. I feel that Elvis showed it in other movies as well but King Creole is a movie doesn't even come close to any other Elvis movie. It's no wonder Elvis would tell people, it's his favorite. You see an awesome transition throughout the 60s as Elvis developes his own style. You just couldnt take your eyes off of him.
Not just his looks but there was something about him. People don't realize that it was a business choice why Elvis did the kind of movies he did. G.I Blues and Blue Hawaii were the tested. Flaming Star and Wild in The Country didn't do as well in the box office so the choice was made. In my opinion, Viva Las Vegas was horrible, cept for the music sceens. Horrible script and the ending was rushed. I just don't see it. They spent so money on it that they had to flim a cheap budget flim after, Kissin Cousins.
Other great acting jobs are, Follow That Dream (great comedy acting), Roustabout (if there was less or no music), Wild in The Country (if they had taken more time to flim it).
Other than that, I love all the Elvis movies. They remind me of different stages of , "My Life". So It's personal to me.

I haven´t seen all of his movies. I´ve only seen:

Flaming star
Stay away, Joe
Blue Hawaii
Paradise, hawaiian style
Loving you (but only in german)
G I blues
Easy come, easy go
Fun in Acapulco
Roustabout
Girls! girls! girls!
King Creole
Viva las vegas
Charro!

I liked them all. I´ve seen some parts of the other movies on youtube. And I especially liked Tickle Me. But I only saw some parts of it. But I guess it would be my favorite movie. :D

What I liked the most about Blue Hawaii was that Elvis often only had a "baving pants" (or however it´s called. I´m not so good at english) on and lookes really sexy in it.

I actually wanted to list up all 31 movies he played in, but it´s not possible. So I just picked out a few of them.

Well said! If a movie did well, they should have spent a little more money & made a quality movie. In spite of what sells. They should have made a few that were stellar "Oscar". I guess residuals weren't what they are today or they would have been thinking of what these movies would be doing for their pocketbooks in the long run. But the bottom line was money & Elvis & his talent bore the brunt of it all. I haven't seen Kissing Cousins, some of the others it's been a LONG time since I've seen. I don't care for the race car movies as much. I love Blue Hawaii & GI Blues, but my all time favorite is King Creole with Loving You a close second.

I went with Blue Hawaii - songs, location, great stuff!

One can draw an interesting comparison by checking out the movie chart as voted by fans so far by going to www.kianaicons.com and clicking on the Movie Poll Link.

By all means add your votes to that poll too..!

Blue Hawaii

It was one of Elvis first "light" and upbeat movies. It had it all: great songs (yes, really great ones), quite a budget to work with (working on location), a nice cast, lots of pretty ladies and an Elvis who still loved doing movies like these (not knowing he had to repeat this formula for lots of years).

From the list I would pick Blue Hawaii...but my own personal choice well I don't have just one. I love "Wild in The Country" I think Elvis played this role with everything he had to give as an actor as I also think he did in "Loving You" and "King Creole" these two are for me a pleasure to watch and I don't mind anyone watching them with me ;) what I mean by that is some of the other movies were so cheesey even I cringed watching them not for the acting but the storylines were so far fetched :doh:and some of the songs well enough said !!! I just wish Elvis had been given more meatier and believeable roles to show the critics that he was a brilliant actor.....was it true that he was offered the role opposite Barbra Striesand in the film "A Star Is Born" now that would have been perfect but I am guessing that a certain somebody said no....
