It's just typical right-wing, ultra conservative religious BS that has been plaguing the world for decades and beyond.

I'd rather go to Hell and listen to Elvis, the Stones, Hendrix and Joplin for eternity than end up in some boring Heaven, listening to Christian music.

Or worse ... Christian rock! Is there a greater oxy***** in this world??!

These *****s are the same type of people who wanted Bewitched taken off air in the sixties because it promoted Satanism.

The same filth who protest at soldiers' funerals because they believe the Iraq war is God's way of telling the world that gay people are taking over and must be expunged.

The same vermin who believe a woman's place is in the home.

Ghastly.

This was very old propaganda against Elvis. Wonder who brought this out again?? Good grief !! It didn't make sense years ago & even less today .

Well, it takes all kinds . Any bets on who made it to Heaven first ?? ;)
Any wonder why Lisa still has some anger toward the MM??
After watching this again & some other things...I don't think I'll be buying any of their "new" truths . IF some are truly sorry ...all I can say is : it's just too late ...for me anyway.....:'(

I could argue on all the things said, but what's the point??

I watched it all..once again. I don't ever want to be tempted to "forgive" ,especially when no forgiveness has even been asked for.
One cannot expect to just " go on "with their lives when another ; who cannot speak is unable to speak for themselves.
Pretty disgusting. This is no god or religion I know....(n)

What these people don't understand is that, Elvis did have a higher understanding of spiritual world. He knew his place on earth and where ever he believed he would end up after death. I don't believe he wanted to die and killed himself. I'd believe he was still alive before believing he killed himself.
A rock n roll singer doesn't have to sing gospel songs for popularity. Take it from an ex-rocker, only few people can pull of god & rock & roll music. So far I've heard ohly three, Elvis, Sam Cook and Stryper.

And in all fairness to the MM, the interviews featured here have been taken out of context, as has most of the other footage.

Not once have any of the MM said Elvis was a Satanist of involved in the so-called Black Arts (and if you believe in that tripe anyway, this video would be most persuasive).

Don't blame the MM for this rubbish, or even David Stanley ...

I'm not sure why anyone thinks we should be "fair" to the MM or the Stanleys.
Has anyone been "fair" to Elvis, & given him the benefit of doubt??

However, I DO understand what you're saying. This "crazy religious bunch" has taken some things out of context . Had it not been said in the first place; those nuts would have nothing to use, except their wild fabricated imagination. There are religious sects out here that believe most of us will be going to hell....except them. That's what gives organized religion a bad name. That's the religion Elvis & many southern folks were raised in.

There are good people in the faith-based world who do not believe or act this way. Unfortunately, it seems these kind of people shout the loudest. From what I've read about Elvis; he was just looking for the kinder, gentler side of religion. He never lost his faith in God....but,was looking for a more loving way to express his faith.

Now, I'm getting out of this as religion & politics should never be discussed in public, IMO. It's a personal, private decision.

Peace .

icons in gospel industry like Bill Gaither, Sumner, Jake Hess and James Blackwood never but praised Elvis as a good christian.

Things like this video are made by very narrow-minded people with the idea that everybody with other believes or way of living then they have, are evil. Very little love for life and the world in general they have.

It's just sad and disgusting that some people do anything to be in the spotlights and get money. Sadly it's only possible if they put Elvis in a bad light. (Afterall, people aren't interested in good things of a person!) Sure he probably was no angel and did things that were wrong, but don't we all do things once in a while that we regret afterwards? But to claim he was anti-christ is just rediculous! I would like to know how God is if Elvis is the anti-christ! Elvis did so much good for people and was very religious. (And not just for publicity.)

An atrocious abuse of the Gospels, an atrocious abuse of the story of Elvis Presley.
While I understand the MM members interviews were taken out of context it well illustratyes why they should have used and use caution in what they say. As for Larry Geller, that guy... :cursing:. I want to meet him one day and say "Hey Larry, heres a deal for you I won't cut people's hair so you quit trying to be a spiritual director."
A word for the wise though, the Anti-Christ will be one whose life will be impeccable and without fault, which is what will make him/her so attractive.
Or will appear to be so, he will use Scripture to bambozzle people and slander good souls ... s/he'll do the sort of thing this video has done, only alas with more class that's what will make him/her more attractive.
Be more wary of whoever claims another is the antichrist - their words say more about themselves than the person they slander.

Oh, by the way, I thought I knew every house Elvis had ever lived in until I heard during the video "Elvis lived in Fornication with Priscilla for 6 years". Isn't that a town in Iowa? :P

[Almost offtopic: did you know Pope John Paul, shaking hands with Elvis in my avatar, invited Bob Dylan to play at the concert for his anniversary as Pope, and Dylan came! So we Christian folk ain't all loopy! :D]

This is an outrage that someone would make this about Elvis. Very convienient how they left out the good stories... such as how Elvis said to his fans... "There's only one King, and that's Jesus Christ!"

I laughed so hard when I watched these two films that something has broken inside me......

This right wing BS is atrocious, I find it hard to believe that anyone in their right mind believes a single word of it.

I can't laugh .It's not funny to me . It destroys our kids . Other people as well. I had a sister-in-law commit suicide over believing some of this crap.
They're dangerious people. :'(

Watch the video, "Jesus Camp."
I helped go against these people to get these camps closed.

I really feel for those people who believe anything that way out!

Everyone should fight against this tirade of filth and protect those who are not strong enough to defend themselves.

I did not intend to offend anyone by laughing, but watching it and trying to take anything so ridiculous seriously, especially regarding Elvis.

I offer my personal condolences on the loss of your sister-in-law.

I guess you'd have no way of knowing. Don't worry about it.
It does seem no one could be that gullible. Thing is; her dad was the minister . I guess it's hard to ignore your parents.

I wasn't mad; except at the *****s that are allowed to practice such trash.
There are many trusting people out here. I'd like to "save them all" ;)
Especially the innocent children.
Just forget it. Try to help others see the error of this kind of thinking.

I agree with the priest.....they need to study the Gospels & Revelations before pushing this stuff. Elvis was no saint; but he was no Satan either.
I thought that was GWB. :)

The quotes to Elvis songs aren't songs he wrote. "Trouble" was for the movie King Creole. It was written for a sceen to witch he was singing to, Maxi Fields, a Mafia leader.
"If I could Dream" was written by this black writter who was inspired by: Martin Luther King. It was taking from his, "I Have A Dream" speach.
These people are drawing at straws. Elvis did change the world. He defined the obvious world between teenagers and adults when he first cameout.
A world the adults couldn't understand so they labled it,"Satans Music"
If these *****s would do thier research, they would know that when Martin Luther separated himself from the Roman Catholics, he had a bar ministry that would take the current songs and change the words to a gospel message. That's right, songs like Amazing Grace once had "worldly" lyrics.
These people are so **************** closed minded, they're the ones turning people to Satan, not Elvis.

Well I'm sure thankful to those of you who made me laugh at this ridiculous video because my first reaction was to get angry and I'm sorry I gave the people who did this that much. They deserve to be laughed and not taken seriously. (n) So here it is........

The trouble with the written word is that it is open to interpretation, the problem with the spoken word is people can be taken out of context!

These people who spread this intolerant rubbish are an extremist minority who's ultimate agenda is to oppress and control those who are unable to protect their own beliefs.

The school I attended was called Holy Trinity, so I know how the religious system works and how a religion Indoctrinates it's young and impressionable. To become a free thinker you have to have knowledge and strength of character to be able to discern and interpret the significance of the facts through close examination.

I have learned through life experience that even Catholicism is interpreted by priests differently from one person to another. Those that can lead you to the answers with reasoned debate rather than blind faith get my vote (y)

ajr
05-11-2007, 04:16 AM
Exactly, JJ. Depends on the interpretation.
I've had excellent communication with Catholisizm . While I don't agree with everything they say.....they don't agree with everything I say either.
I've decided that ones faith can only be based on your belief in God; NOT a person. Since none of us are infallible; we must search for what works for us.
That's never been control or restriction by any man.

IMO, that's all Elvis was looking for. Spirituality that "worked" with his beliefs.
In the '70's the "New Age" was coming into being. People were looking to find what agreed with the Bible. So many churches did not give "love & acceptance" only "hate & fear" ,if one did not conform to their rules.

I studied "New Age" philosophy ....it was ok, but eventually did not work for me. IMO, that's all the folks in the '70's were looking for. Confirmation of their beliefs .

OK, enough said....I don't talk religion . It's a personal thing. :)and I'm a liberal.
To each his own.

These mission for christ videos.................Elvis had more views than any of the other 34 they made.It must have taken em ages to put this lot together cause they got film of Elvis, I never seen before!!. Do I believe it???...NO. I remember Elvis, the way I want to remember him. The life he led, the way he was in benevolence and kindness. His legacy of joy, his inspiration to others, not to mention his powerful voice. He lived his life he died his death, he left a lot of memories to a lot of fans.........mainly happy ones. Let him rest in peace.

I could not agree more............as my Dad said,he believed that GOD put Elvis here for a reason.Alot of people are jealous of what Elvis is and what he had,and never will have theirself. My Dad also said that Elvis will never be forgotten and will live on forever.Elvis knew and believed in GOD...........these people that seem to know so much need to look into someone and what they are about before jumping out there and saying all of this BS.That includes Chuck D and whoever the F*** else.Boy these people need to get a life and worry about their ownself.

Well it's always fascinating what ideas are coming to someones mind just make a buck outta it. I mean the stories about Elvis the "Junkie" (it's a quote!!!) are not selling anymore so they need something new. Pickin' out one point and try to proof the opposit. They can be really proud of. (n)
Unfortunately there are others who really like to see such crap.
