hey guys
was just at the stage suit display at Graceland and saw the light blue suit
Elvis never got to wear. It is really stunning!! But i have a couple of questions that maybe someone can answer for me...

1-i had heard that the suit was un-finished when Elvis died? if thats the case
then he was planning on wearing the Sundial suit again on the August tour?

2-i also read that Elvis was going to wear this suit for the CBS special but it
didn't fit?

Has anyone ever heard what suits he planned on wearing for that August tour?

thanks guys

I heard it was that suit that you are referring to.

This was the suit that he supposed to wear for the August 1977 tour.

For me, it may look stunning to you. But I don't like it for a number of reasons. One is that it looked terrible, which of course is my opinion.

No,it was not planned to be worn at the cbs tv special,it was for the august tour.
As far as I know the suit was ready, and Elvis already had worn it to see how it looked to him at graceland

A great looking suit on the mannequin. I guess Elvis liked it, he usually tried on the costumes & seems like he was pretty decisive. I don't like it, IMO, it's girly, very Princess Diana. However, the blue would have been great for his eyes, & for that alone I'd have loved to have seen him in it.

According to Angie with Graceland Archives, Bill Belew mailed this jumpsuit to Vernon after Elvis' death. She also said there was no belt with this jumpsuit. Angie did an interview with Doc Walker on Sirius radio just after the Jumpsuit Exhibit opened. There is no belt with the jumpsuit in the Jumpsuit Exhibit. So, who put the belt on the picture of the jumpsuit in Elvislennon2004's link? The picture of Elvis wearing the jumpsuit must be a fake, i.e., someone put his head on that suit. I saw this jumpsuit and it is beautiful.

The photo is a fake. You can tell. Here is the picture of Elvis that they used.

As Elvis Himselvis said it gives you an idea what Elvis would of look like in the suit.

I think the unworn suit is nice, and it would be nice to se Elvis use it at a concert :-)

Once again we debate this suit. Some like it, some don't. I for one, think it is rather lovely. But, no one's opinion on it would really matter other than Elvis', because it was he who would have worn it. To try and go back and say whether he did like it or not, or whether the fans would have liked it, is virtually impossible. Thirty years have gone by, styles have changed, as have people's tastes, so to debate this suit seems pointless.

Yeah, you have a good point there vulcandude, but if Elvis lived now, i think he still will used jumpsuits on stage in that style. :-)

Sorry my English ;)

No way. Elvis may have done a lot of stupid things, but even he would have realised that the jumpsuits would have had their day after maybe another couple of years. Even by '73, they were looking a little pass? ...

The suit it´s not my favourite, Elvis was overweighted, so a design like that only makes his extra pounds more obvious.

About Elvis making the right decitions, as I´ve read Elvis was not totally happy about his looks around the time CBS Tv special, well Elvis if you got a bloated belly the most stupid thing you can do unless you want to boast about it, is to wear a jumpsuit! plus one with a round thing (aztec calendar) right on the spot were the issue is happening!

I think jumpsuits were ok until the Peacok, Chinese Dragon, American Eagle, and all the ones made in '74. But after that, it was really time for a change.

It's a tough call for me...I've never really liked the suit in the pictures I've seen of it, but maybe seeing it in person would change my mind... :hmm:

Maybe ;), it is better to see things in the real, and not just on a picture (y)

No way. Elvis may have done a lot of stupid things, but even he would have realised that the jumpsuits would have had their day after maybe another couple of years. Even by '73, they were looking a little passé ...Elvis wore the jumpsuits because they were comfortable and allowed him the room he needed for his movements onstage. Elvis might have eventually changed from jumpsuiits to something else, (which I doubt), but if he had, he still would have chosen something that was comfortable and that he felt suited him.

it's a funny thing about those suits...they all look alot different in pictures than
they do in person. they were designed to "pop" when he was on stage under those bright lights. when they're in a case like at graceland they are much more subdued looking, but still very beautiful. the workmanship on them is fantastic!

oh and as far as the suits go, i dont think Elvis would have kept wearing them. he always changed with the times and he probably would have re-invented his appearance again in the 80s and so on.

also, believe it or not, those suits were probably the best thing he could have
worn when he gained the weight. here's why...(1)a one piece suit gives the person a slimmer look. (2) the wide flares (bell-bottoms) also create the illusion of a slimmer figure (3) the elaborate designs draws attention away from the extra weight (4) the larger belt makes the waistline appear slimmer than a thinner belt (5)the high collar creates a longer neck and draws attention away from a puffy face. (6)also the shoulder pads helped

now all of this helps the situation. it could not conceal the weight totally.
bottom line is Elvis could pull off just about any outfit without a problem. thats hard to do

I think the jumpsuits were OK,but if Elvis hadn't die and should have had more concerts in 1977,'78 and so on,i think he must have change his stage costumes, and going to more two piece outfits or new designed jumpsuits...not one new jumpsuit and than keep going on with that and the other jumpsuits he already had...just throw away all those old jumpsuits and make more new ones and combine them with what I already said, two piece outfits so that he didn't wore jumpsuits concert after concert...I think he looked great in two piece outfits, and should have go on with that.He looked great in those outfits in 1975,and with his weight in 1977(what I personally don't mind, but that's just me and not the press)he would have looked alot thinner and than they not should have talked that bad about him in that period.
