Thanks to everyone for posting to really cool pictures of this jumpsuit. This one for some reason has always been one of my favorites! While Elvis wore this jumpsuit from late May until July 1975, he wore in again once or twice in 1976 during his final season in Las Vegas. It's a shame Elvis didn't wear it more.

I've never rated that jump-suit as one of his best. I can't exactly say why, but I don't think it really cuts it along side some of the others.

BTW, what is the total number of jump-suits?

Another case of a great jumpsuit that should have been retired after 75 . He never looked as good in it in 76

Another suit that looked great in 75 but bad in 76 . He just wasnt in the shape to wear jumpsuits in 76 and should have worn two piece outfits

I always have to laugh when I see people argueing about what Elvis should have done or shouldn't have done. You all forget one very important detail: Elvis himself. First of all he never felt comfortable in the two-piece. He didn't have the freedom he had in his jumpsuits. And it was HIS performance. So the very first thing we have to think about is what made HIM feel good. Not what we would want to see....

Is there a reason why the original belts for this suit and its black counterpart not used in 1976?

Hereby an impression of the two belt buckles Elvis used with this suit. On pictures the embroidery looks all red but part of it turns out to be pink.

Great job with the illustrations! The embroidery stripes on the wings of the suit, legs, and the belt buckle is applied with a machine called a Cornely. Probably a Cornely FB, since you can't see the stitches. It is actually a rope called "rattail" and It fades quite easily. I'm sure it started out red and washed out to pink.

You can see here how the bonnaz work is faded on the legs.

the phoenix suits looked great on him, very simple design. this red version also was facing opposite the other 3 versions, the black, teal blue and navy blue and silver all faced to his left, and this was to his right.

i don't think the leg work faded, it is just the same color on the outer wings of the bird itself and was actually a pink not dark red like the zebra part. the belt being next to the leg in dark red is what would make it look to have faded.
