I wouldn't worry too much about this poll or this website.

One of their other poll questions was "Do you think Kevin Federline is going to be the next Elvis Presley?", so it's obviously meant to be taken with a grain of salt. For the record, two people actually answered yes to that question! Hmm...

Two Legends that started in the same place, who Liked each other and who I like. I chose both, its apples and oranges.

Cash was a great talent, but I also find it hard to believe he's ahead of Elvis in this poll!

I believe it is both of them. They was great in the own fields of music. They as Unchained said "You can't compare Gold with Gold". They are both at the top.

There are a lot of variables that go into a Poll. If you go on a Johnny Cash site, it'll be a Johnny Slam Dunk that will be much wider then that one. If you hold it here at TCB world It'll be a Presley Slam Dunk. At that site it could be a number of reasons one guy may really like Johnny and have emailed his whole list and asked them to vote for Johnny. Plus a lot of people tend to be parrots if they look at the comments and see "cheesy movies" then they repeat it and cast the vote for John. BTW, Johnny who I'm a pretty big fan of made several "cheesy Movies" of his own , the big difference is his were mostly made for TV , and all of EPs were for the big screen and I believe most all if not all turned a profit.

Then Johnny has been in the news more lately , he just died his house burned down, he's had a couple posthumous hits recently including his version of "God's gonna cut you down" which Elvis recorded earlier as "Run on" , and I thought they were both good but again they're apples and oranges Elvis did his as a Upbeat song, and Johnny did his as a more old bluesy number.

All the poll really does for me is illustrate how accurate I am when I've been telling people how much talent really came out that era in music, and how much influence that they've had.

Two Advantages Johnny had over Elvis in my eyes are he wrote great songs, and he was allowed to collaborate with people in a way I think Elvis would have been awesome at if the Colonel would have allowed it. The biggest advantage Elvis has over everyone though IMO is The voice is second to none IMO, Johnnys was distinctive and soulful but he couldn't carry a tune like Elvis. Elvis was also more versatile , Johnny didn't do fast songs well, Elvis could sing fast Rock n Roll ,slow ballads, Country or the old standards with equal quality .

That said I chose both, I think I have most of the songs both men have released in my collection and I like them both and Like that they were fans
of each other and friends.

IMO Cash's voice actually got worse as he got older, but It was a distinct voice and he had much more range early in his career. During the 80s I began to notice the change. He once said it was because of the years of booze and smoking that he lost his range.
Elvis's voice on the other hand , for all the health problems and drug problems, seemed to just keep expanding and getting better.
