Hi, I've got the chance to visit Memphis this August but I've got a dilemma over where to stay. I could stay in E.P.'s Hearbreak Hotel (EP Boulevard) or stay in a Downtown hotel.
Question is if I stay in EPHH is it easy to get to Downtown Memphis to visit Beale St., Sun Studios, Audubon Dr.? Are there tours I can take?
If I stay in Downtown Memphis (Union Avenue) it is within walking distance to Sun and Beale St. Is it safe to walk around?
I'll only be in Memphis for 2 days so I'll have try and fit as much as possible in.
If anyone who's been can advise I would appreciate it very much.
I would stay in HBHH & get a tour for all others. That's just my opinion & what I did.....The tours take you to all other things & allow you time to visit. :)

I'd also suggest that the HBHH would already be booked for this August, as would many other hotels in the city!
It's pretty easy to get downtown ... buses near Graceland and shuttles from hotels are pretty easy to grab.

I stayed in Memphis, it was about 10-15 minutes away from Graceland but it wasn't safe. I would prefer to stay nearer to Graceland ! :king:

Be safe and careful anywhere you go in Memphis, Graceland isn't in the greatest neighborhood anymore either. Just watch your back, especially at night.

We stayed one night at the HBH and one night downtown. The night we stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel we went to Marlowe's for dinner and that was about it. There is nothing to do there.
Second morning we headed downtown and saw the Civil Rights Museum and then checked into our hotel downtown. Saw  the Peabody Ducks and just walked around Beale Street . Had a blast that night listening to live music and drinking beer!
Have fun!

HBHH is nice and convinient for most things as they have the free shuttle bus. Ive also stayed at DAYS INN which is also opposite Graceland, its cheaper then HBHH and still very nice but it has no bar to sit at in the evening or restaurant which HHBH has so once breaksfast is served there isnt anything to do in the hotel itself.

One good thing about the Graceland Days that Heartbreak doesn't have is in room Internet . I can't be gone for long without the net for business reasons, even on vacation.
We don't get any year o room in the HBHH, when we get it, then we stay there
the whole day a shuttle bring you to downtown and Sun-Studo. You need no money for that, but during Elvis Week much people use that service
We rent a car and rent a Hotel in the Brooks Road, there are many dealer with Elvis souvenirs, the Hote? is between airport and Graceland

WE WENT TO GRACELAND IN 2002 AND STOPPED AT THE RADISON JUST BESIDE THE PEABODY HOTEL AND ABOUT 1 MIN FROM BEALE STREET. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY THERE AND AT THE TOP OF BEALE STREET IS WHERE U GET THEFREE SHUTTLE BUS.
WHEN WE WENT TO GRACELAND, WE COUNDNT FIND THE PLACE WHERE THE SHUTTLE BUS STOPPED ,SO WE ENDED UP GETTING A NORMAL BUS TO GRACELAND, AS WE WERE NEARING THE KINGS HOUSE
A COUPLE OF PEOPLE ON THE BUS SAID TO US ,THE NEXT STOP IS FOR GRACELAND, AS IF IT WAS NORMAL ( IT WOULD BE FOR THEM LOL ) LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THAT MY HEART WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF MY CHEST WITH EXCITMENT:notworthy

HBHotel is totally booked for Elvis week, but as others have said, besides Graceland there is nothing to do out there. You would be better staying in the city, around Beale which is fantastic at night, especially on a fine night, as the place is buzzing. Memphis is rough enough at night, so do be careful where you go.

I'm staying at Memphis Plaza...which is just like 2 minutes outside of Memphis. During Elvis week its just packed full of people and I feel like I can't breath when I stay down in middle of all of it. LOL.
I will be doing shows and contest while i'm there but what I really want see is this new Jumpsuit exibit they have. So I hope see some of ya'll. I know I will be talking to radio personality that has Elvis Radio show Mr. Cooper and few others who want know why some of us Tribute Artist do what we do. So I hope I see some of ya'll.
Love to all,
Tim Dudley
