This suit was also worn at the June 18 '72 show in Fort Worth, TX.

All the color shots in this thread where Elvis uses the squared off microphone were taken at the Fort Worth June 18 '72 concert. Note the large RH sideburn is in evidence as also seen in the MSG photos, especially at the press conference.

The only other tour Elvis used this mike was on the November '72 run... and the hairstyles don't match up between these shots above and the known shots from November '72.

The B&W and color photos posted that show the rounded windsock mike are from the June MSG shows.

Hi FrankieRider,

You are correct about the shots with the "squared off" microphone. That is a Shure SM57 mic with windscreen which he started using on June 13, 1972. He used that mic the rest of the year except for Vegas in Aug/Sep 72.

When you think of the simplicity of this design compared to some of the other suits from 1971/72 it makes you wonder why Gene didn't cut back on the old baubles and keep it simple!

I love this jumpsuit simply for the fact that it was worn during the "As Recorded At Madison Square Garden" show. That album, back when I was just a teenager (24 years ago), became the start of the journey to my becoming the Elvis fan I am today.

That album will always be close to my heart.

Yes Cunnie, this is the suit he's wearing on the cover on the 1974 album "Good Times". The picture was taken during his concert in Fort Worth, Texas on June 18th, 1972. Pictures of the same show were also used on the 1972 album "Burning Love & Hits from His Movies" and the single covers of "My Boy" and "Moody Blue".

Ha! I think that last one's the ending of the final show in New York, on the 11th. He (or Charlie) put his belt on upside-down; not quite sure how you wouldn't notice that but, hey, being on a stage in front of 20000 people changes things a bit in terms of perception... :D

i third that, i was always a fan of the belts first because they added that rich appeal. Also for a collector the belts are far more affordable and some have more detail then the suits. and also are separate pieces of art within themselves.
