My all time favorite is You're the Boss with Ann Margret. That had to be written by Leiber/Stoller, it's one great R&B song, & IMO, they perform it to excellence. (y) Anyone know why it wasn't in the movie?:hmm:
My second favorite would have to be Love Me Tender/Witchcraft with Frank Sinatra. The singing is great & Elvis looks wonderful in a tux.

This is great, as someone may be able to answer this question for me.

There is a version of "Love Letters" where someone is shadowing Elvis' singing (I think the version is from '69) who was it?

Have a great Easter, I hope lots of bunnies arrive with heaps of eggs (although I've been informed to not hide them outside anymore by my little boy, as the resident "natives" (wildlife) get to too many first, lol, taking unwanted bites out! Have to love it!

You´re the Boss its a great rack, how dumb to take that scene out of the film! Anyway my favourite duet it's when Elvis duets with himself: Suspicious Minds, Promised Land (singe version) and so many others, he just knew how to do it and its sounded great!

Elvis DuetsBy ElvisNews.com/ Kees, Apr 21, 2007
Finally available, a CD with duets by Elvis and various other artists, a CD many fans whished for, is this what they wanted?

Design

The design of this 2 CD import release is very simple yet very attractive, but the quality of the image isn?t very good, holding it in my hands. Inside the booklet we get the details on the songs.

Content

The duets on this release are not new. Most duets are from the movies (the complete second CD), television specials ? the 1968 comeback and Sinatra show- live performances or home recordings.

The concept of a duet CD is a nice one since listening to only Elvis all the time can become boring for the causal fan or even the die hard fans. Every now and then your ears need something different, well at least mine do. The producers of this compilation interpreted the term ?Duet? very widely. The backing artist like Kathy Westmoreland, J.D Sumner and Sherrill Nielsen or complete backing groups like The Blossoms and VOICE qualify as duet partners. The result: a mixed bag of goodies. Some of these are very enjoyable like ?Let Yourself Go? from the ?1968 Comeback Special?, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face ? 2 versions present, with Ginger Holladay and Temple Riser ? or ?The Impossible Dream?. But I can?t really see the latter as a duet, the same goes for tracks like ?Help Me? or ?Why Me Lord?. The same goes for ?Bringing it Back?, it is not a duet, and it is Elvis backing his group VOICE.

The second CD is dedicated to the movies and contains the only real duets Elvis recorded, three songs with Ann Margret and ?There Ain?t Nothing Like A Song? with Nancy Sinatra. Most songs were lifted from the movies so some versions are different form the performances we know from the soundtrack releases. Besides these my personal favorites are ?Crawfish?, the additional vocals by Kitty White really add that New Orleans sound to the song., ?Mexico? because it is a fun tune and ?Confidence? since it was on one of my first Elvis tapes. Some songs are better performed on the soundtrack album; ?Frankie And Johnny? is the best example. The duet with his daughter is a nice addition.

The sound of this CD is very good. There are some differences but that is due to the various sources, studio, live and home recordings.

Conclusion

This release is a fun idea; the result is a mixed bag. I won?t play it too often since there are too many average songs on it. A single disc release with the best duets would have been sufficient. With the upcoming release ?Elvis At The Movies? the addition of a handful of these duets could have made that release more attractive.

Aw, c'mon now, that was a cute duet - I liked both Queenie Wahine & Datin. Donna Butterworth had a better than a decent voice for a child, & she wasn't lip synching like Will Hutchins. Now Yoga is as Yoga Does that's another story. . .:'(

Like I said before, during the helicopter scene in Paradise, Hawaiian Style, Elvis should have hit little Donna B. over the head with a shovel and LEFT HER THERE ON THAT ISLAND! I'm sure her dad Dan wouldn't have minded ... he was just being polite every time she sang!

I have to say the Celine Dion duet although electronic is by far the best.

You got to be kidding, Celine Dion is fake soul all the way... and the backing band was poor, no groove at all, lisen to the orquesta at the begining, what was that? the Mickey Mouse March version of If I Can Dream?

The main thing is that she may be able to sing for many, but does she even get near to understand the meaning of this song? what´s the reason of her stupid smile all the time? is that because she´s singing about birds flying high in the sky? her attitude is *****ic, you just got to look at Elvis at her side doing his interpretation of the song, was he with a dumb smile like: hey, look at me doing a happy song about world peace? the guy is mad cause they shoot Dr. King in Memphis 1968, the man is pasionate about the lyrics, and full of soul, Celine? wasn´t she just ridiculous when she pass her mike from one hand to another to add the "Dramatic" touch?

Now she may have some singing technique, but this is a gospel song, this was a song that could have been perferc for Ottis Reding or Aretha, the only white people that where able to do it back then was either Elvis, Joe Cocker or Janis Jolpin, and Elvis was far superior as a singer than both of them... gospel singing is not just about hit the right note, but to play with the notes in the way acording to your feeling, at the end of the song, the part of: while I can dream... till the end, lisen to all the subtle expresion qualities in Elvis voice, Celin, she just keeps repeating four notes over and over, she´s just like plunk plunk plunk, no feeling at all, just fancy tricks, my bed can do noises with more rythm on weekend nights.

And when Miss Dion sing: While I can think... Oh god, that line, burn the witch.

I would say during Elvis' life time best duet is The Lady Loves Me from Viva Las Vegas.

After he passed away, then I would say Celine Dion and Elvis singing If I Can Dream. It seem that Elvis was standing right by her. I would rank Lisa and Elvis on Don't Cry Daddy in second.

Raised On Rock - Only a few people doesn't like Celine Dion and you are one of them. You know their is life beyond Elvis. Their is only a few good singers in this day in time and she is one of them. I love her voice

Wake up! there are a bunch of artist, amazing singers that could have done it much better than Celine, no disrespect but the "there is no longer to many great singers today" its total bullshit of an argument, there are amazing femeale artist that I can think of doing it right with Elvis, but it just happens that the kind artist that would have done a good job would never ever appear in a show like that, I mean they have some kind of dignity to stand for, and some of them love the King by the way, but in American *****? no way.

About Dion, she can sing, she has the voice, but her performance with Elvis totally lacks of an emotional understanding of the song, and thats what makes of some one, and you should know this cause that was an Elvis musical lesson to the world, a real performer, beyond a good voice.

Ms. Dion always lacks of a feeling, she?s just easy grace and a faked smile, don?t mind if the entire world loves her, I rather go for someone like India Arie.. now thats a real singer, a real artist, just like Elvis.

Celine may have a huge vocal range, but she is like Mariah Carey ... all warble, and absolutely no soul and feeling in any of her music. Like Michael Bolton, Michael Buble, Norah Jones and a heap of others.

Again, your opinion. Only a few who thinks that she lacks feeling.

You don't realize the performance that was done. Since I been working at my job and the people who knows I collect Elvis thought of me when that came on. Some even hates Elvis but they say that performance blew them away. They all say that performance seen so real. Meaning that is seems Elvis was standing right by her.

I hate India Arie's singing. She can't sing in my opinion. She lacks the feeling in songs. Alicia Keys would of done better than her.

Now for others who could done this duet better than Celine. Only a few -Martina McBride, and a few others.

Here's my two cents worth: I love Celine but don't feel she was the best choice either in a duet with Elvis - her voice is too high. Ann Margaret has a sultrier voice that would have blended much better.

Celine was probably so awed at being picked to sing with Elvis that no wonder she may have appeared to have a plastic smile on her face.....:D and no, gospel singing isn't her thing - so what, that great image of Elvis to present to the audience was all that really mattered.

Well I guess you´re just the kind of people that belives in what most of the people belives, if most people thinks that way they must be right isn´t it, but the fact is that 10,000 CAN be wrong. Anyway Im not trying to make people belive in what I belive about music, Im just speaking my mind out, and it seems there´s a few here that as me thinks she has a well trained voice but no feeling at all, and the issue here is that, If I Can Dream was not the best choice for her cause its like Gospel singing, and either you like or not Celine work, that its not her field, and tha its not matter of opinion.

Yes you´re right Alicia Keys was definetively a choice for that song. Maybe Celine could have done it right with a rather less soul demanding song, "Always on My Mind" could have worked with her. But because Elvis footage was a priority, "IF I Can Dream" was the best choice, ergo, drop Celine and look for someone else for the song.

P.S. Did you saw India Arie at latter with Jools Holland Tv show? she keeps a lot for her self, but in that show, man she does has a voice, but well if there´s no soul in there for you, well I guess our hearts beats on diferent wolrds, and that´s it.

I have to say that all the duets with Ann-Margret are my favorites. They were an electric team!!! Wish they had done an album together.

I also wonder what it would have been like if Elvis had starred in the movie "A Star Is Born" and sang duets with Barbara Striesand??? Could have been something wonderful there?

Talking about stupid. I am not a Tina Turner fan at all. But that is me.

Raised on Rock - I believe in what I believe. I don't listen to others at all.

If someone tells me to listen to this person and give me my input. I would tell how I see it. I don't care if I hurt the person who told me to listen to it feelings. There is only a few singers that is out today that I listen to. I don't watch American Idol at all. The only reason why I watch it last week was because of the fact I heard that Celine Dion is going to do a duet with Elvis. Other than that I think the show is stupid. My opinion of course. I don't watch TV shows that is out now except for Ghost Whisperer. That is the only show I watch and I hardly watch that show because I forget all about it when it comes on. As for the music of today, it is mostly junk. Most of the artists lacks talent. Only a few I would listen to and Alicia Keys is one of them. She is a good singer. I don't really listen to Celine Dion that often but I like the duet. She is a good singer on some songs and she has a good voice. But I just don't listen to her to much. I listen to singers from the 50s, 60s and 70s (there is only a few from the 70s I like). The only CDs you will find in my house that is mine is Elvis, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and a few others.

I agree, she has a good voice but something in the harmony she was singing did not seem to fit. Elvis seemed passionate, she seemed coasting. But it was very nice to see how well they did it and how well the crowd reacted to it.

I didn't say all todays music is all junk. I said it is mostly junk for me. Alot can't sing in my opinion. There is alot of the singers of the 50s and 60s that I like that maybe you don't. If Elvis was alive he wouldn't have Colonel Tom Parker as manager. He was tired of him and not letting him perform outside the US. R.E.M is from Atlens, Georgia which I live south of Macon. Some songs are good that they sing on. Not a big fan of them but they are ok.

Hard to believe that Stipe is already in his late fortys isn´t it? I think he's a great performer and a good example that you still can put on a great energetic show at that age, if only Elvis had taken more care of himself, such a shame he went away that young.

A Presley Stipe duet would be the most!

Hard to believe that Stipe is already in his late fortys isn?t it? I think he's a great performer and a good example that you still can put on a great energetic show at that age, if only Elvis had taken more care of himself, such a shame he went away that young.

I went to school with some of his kin. They tell me he is a great guy to meet.

Elvis and ol blue eyes himself..1960

I remember when I first saw it on, This Is Elvis, it was so cool the way they switched the hits and I always thought Elvis sounded better Frankie on Witchcraft.

ELvis sounded and performed far better than Sinatra, ol blue eyes must have been not comfortable at all with that.
