This is the best version of "Hurt" I've ever heard. Check out the move at the end! Does anyone know the date of this performance?

Thanks.

Yeah, this is great! That roll on the end just shows what a great performer he was, all through his life! =)

I'm pretty sure this is from Chicago May 2nd. 1977.

:jawdrop: just amazing -this version of hurt is way better than the cbs special version of hurt-and for those peeps who say most of elvis concerts in 77 were not good thumbs(n) to ya.....elvis was the ultimate performer even in 77 topps(y) bypass his physical appearance -elvis was still beautiful right up until the end vocally at his peak his beautiful voice never abandoned him-when he felt like it in 77 the shows were great-always the king:king: :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

I have never seen this clip...simply freaking awesome.

If I'm not mistaken, the repeated ending is not something he did too often in '77. But then neither is the drop/roll. Or the "...hurt godd@mn you!"

What a passionate performance. I think I have an audience recording of this show, and I'll have to give it a listen soon and see how the rest of the show measures up.

The speed on the audio track in the clip is a bit on the fast side, by the way. It would be nice to hear it with that corrected.

There is a Joseph Tunzi photo book of the Chicago '77 shows, incidentally. I don't own it but I paged through it once and it looked pretty good.

Chicago May 2, 1977 is when this was done. It was the night in which Elvis rolled around on stage during the reprise.

I am still flipping over this video. I just watched it again several times, and I think most would agree that it is amazing for its own merits and not just great for '77. But in that context, hearing him sing so well and watching him move around like that with such agility and control, so close to the end...it does make for a very impressive and moving experience.

Imagine witnessing that in person. Even though he was carrying some extra weight, one might come away thinking the guy was on top of his game and was going to live forever.
