I just wanted to know if the swing on the veranda of the Tupelo House was originally there when Elvis lived in it.

No there was no swing there it came up if i remember correctly in `81 or `82 for the tourist could take a picture there.

I have heard not only the swing was added but the whole house is not the real one.:doh:

I visited the house last year and sat on the swing, but I didn't know for sure if this was there when Elvis lived in the house. Somehow my photos don't seem the same now that I know it was added after.

I know the furniture inside the house isn't original, but I always thought the actual building was the real thing. Did you hear anything about the house being rebuilt - I'd be interested to know this.

What was told to me when i was there was that the roof was not the real one anymore.

another thing,
don't know if anybody knew this already but i thought it's intresting to know,is that Elvis visited his birthhouse 2 days before he passed away

What was told to me when i was there was that the roof was not the real one anymore.

I don't mind if they changed the roof as this is something a lot of people do anyway. I never thought for one minute that the actual house wasn't the original - I never heard this before - it makes more sense that it is just the roof that was changed.

I did hear that he visited his birthplace but I didn't know that it was 2 days before he died - can't help wondering if he sensed something was going to happen and this is why he wanted to see his home again.
