Sorry if this has been mentioned before (I'm sure it has) but...what do the initals E.R.N. stand for on the back of both his karate gi and the robe he wears in the famous Ali photo?

Huh? What Ali photo are you talking about? There are only two, and he's not wearing a robe in either ...
Also, I can't recall any pics with these initials, although I have seen some with "EP" and "EAP" on the back of his gi ...
He also for a while wore things with the initials DEA(drug enforcement agencycould that be it?

Thanks guys. The truith is a lack of sleep on my part and not being able to think and or type. The picture with Ali and Elvis in boxing stance was indeed the picture. I thought it had been a present from Elvis to Ali, then added to that I had remembered seeing someone selling a karate gi or something a month or so ago with the initals E.R.N. and I guess I had thought it was an exact copy. The Gi of Elvis's in a Big coffe table book of Elvis's attire called "Elvis Fashion" Which is a GREAT book, has the initals E.P. like you said.Thank you for your help and I once again apologize for an overacting and undersleeping imagination.

I think you're thinking about this:

and this:

The garments are from b & K enterprises and the initials are personalised to the customer. "ERW" was probably a customer.

Didn't even get the initals right...."good grief Charlie Brown...you can't do anything right!" Yes you are correct that was exactly what I had seen. But is the reproduction of the robe in that photo the same as the one with Ali? If so was it a gift from Elvis to Ali...or Ali to Elvis:hmm:

It was a gift from Elvis to Ali in early '73. Ali only wore in once.

Are you serious?? B&K is a great company. They make the best and most authetic replica's in the business. I have several of their suits myself, but come on! Replica's of Elvis' karate gi?? I am apalled that anyone would ever wear that! When would somoene actually wear that? I guess as long as you were studying karate and had your own initials on the back then it is ok. Other than that I see no practical use for this at all! I can already see some guy walking around memphis mumbling "thank you very much" in a karate gi with the initials EAP on it when it is 115 degrees outside.
