Members outside of Australia have probably not seen these rare pictures.

The first is Elvis with Aussie radio DJ Ward "Pally" Austin and his then-wife Irene. Ward died a few years ago and this photo was included in his autobiography.

The second is of Elvis "sparring" Australian Aboriginal world boxing champ Lionel Rose. Lionel described meeting Elvis as one of the best moments of his life.

Both pictures were taken on the set of The Trouble With Girls.

Cheers from Down Under.

"A ricka poody and a fan doogly ..."

(This will mean nothing to non-Aussie members - and even less if you're an Aussie member under 35 or 40 - but that strange sentence was Ward's trademark phrase. And no, nobody ever knew what it meant!)

That sure does bring back some memories.
He was a great DJ, and the first thing that everyone talked about at school on Monday mornings.

Awesome, I have never seen that photo with Lionel Rose.

Would that have been around the time He was attempting a Musical
career (so to speak) of his own?

My uncle arrested Austin in the late '60s as he marched down George Street in Sydney yelling racist remarks whilst wearing a Confederate soldier's uniform and brandishing a long bladed sword.

Despite the sensation the riot made in the press, the most impressive moment for Rose during his California visit was meeting Elvis Presley. "I was punching a heavy bag in a gym in L.A., and I hear a voice sing out, 'Hey, Lionel! What's doin'?' And it was Elvis himself," Rose recalled to The Age. "I was in awe of him, but he said he was in awe of me." Music had been a part of Rose's life for even longer than boxing. He had learned to play guitar as a child and was never without one. "You're never lonesome with your guitar," Rose told The Age
