Tonight, I attended the Warner Brothers chat session - and I was able to ask them the all important question ...
<RichTCB> Hello. I?m a fan of Elvis Presley. Many fans around the world and I want to know: are there any plans for a single or multi disc package of the concert documentaries, ?That?s The Way It Is? and ?Elvis On Tour, with unreleased concert and rehearsal footage? Thank you.
<WARNER> We have huge Elvis news.....We cannot announce all the plans now, but we will have a big announcement to make in a few weeks. Stay tuned to HTF for further details. ELVIS fans are going to be VERY VERY HAPPY!
 (y) :D :wiggle:

Or it could be the release of a double CD with all the outtakes of Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Old Macdonald, Queenie Wahine's Papaya and Smorgasbord ... with bonus tracks of every take of Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey by Donna Butterworth (Paradise, Hawaiian Style).
(God, I hated that kid in that movie. I was hoping Elvis would leave her there on that island after the chopper's keys were finally found ... "Er, sorry Danny ol' buddy, we just couldn't find your daughter, man. Thankyouverymuch ...")
I'd like to think this "big news" has something to do with TTWII or EOT, but I doubt it somehow.

Now let's hope...that this BIG news isn't another movie boxset...this time with all the movies included...
Let's hope that they will release the TTWII SE as it was announced back a few years ago..with lot's of rare footage..not the stripped down version we got..( we all know by now that a lot of songs copyrights are solved...)
And for On Tour...they told us a few months ago..that they were working on this movie...so that movie will come out..sooner or later..

I would welcome a "Elvis On Tour" release, especially since I've only seen bits and pieces from it.
If it's a deluxe editions of "Elvis On Tour" and "That's The Way It Is" then I give Warner Bros (y) (y) , if it's special editions (and "That's The Way It Is" is released as it was meant - before they shot themselves in the foot with editing out footage they said would be there), then I give them (y) , if they release Elvis movies then I give them (n)

Don't want to jump the gun, but I reckon this could well be EOT. Certain people in the know have already indicated it as a major possibility for 2007. :D ;)

This is Elvis (a SE edition) was supposed to be released around august 2007...but warner turned it down..cause the movie has too many short movies in it..and the movie was not shot in HD quality..and warner wants to release HD quality dvd's or blueray discs..and the production costs to digitally remaster it to HD were to high..so that project was also down..but they are thinking about the "normal" movie in the same quality as the old vhs...to put that to dvd.... :hmm: so we get this is elvis in mono or poor 2.0 dolby digital..and with blurry colours...:cursing:

"This Is Elvis" was shot / compiled on 35mm film. It naturally has a very high resolution (way higher than HD).
But I think I see what you mean. Remastering costs time and money. However, given the pivotal nature of this production, not to mention the acclaim it received on release, I am sure that many want to see it done properly. Unfortunately, because the film was made of composite sources, not only are there clearance rights, but quality issues. Take the kinescopes. We now have the Ed Sullivan shows restored and enhanced to full glory, but no material had such estimable treatment back then. Even the youngest of the real footage (i.e. "Elvis In Concert") should look better with today's digital mastering techniques. But who would go through and put all that effort in? It would be too costly by half.
This is Elvis was a hodge-podge of footage a little from everywhere. I don't want to get my hopes up, but my wish is for EOT, remastered and restored ,with multiple DVDs and unreleased footage.
When all the unreleased footage from EOT started showing up last year online I wondered if it had anything to do with a possible EOT release with a lot of extras.
You know perhaps they got all the film shot in 72 together to see what they had and the shape it was in- and someone leaked it out.
I hope its not just a dvd re-release of the VHS version of EOT.
