Just watched a program on CBS on EPE & Sillerman...brief interview w/Pris Presley...speaking of the selling of EPE.
Sillerman flew the interviewer on his private jet to Graceland and gave a tour...interviewer asked if he felt a sense of "ownership" and Sillerman said "no a sense of stewardship"...Sillerman also discussed that they are going to move the visitor center from across the street to right next to Graceland...making it bigger and better and expanding the land to 100 acres.
Also mentioned that w/Cirque de Solai that they willl be earning100 mil. a year....
I got the distinct impression that Lisa doesn't have much say in what is going on....
Pris said that Elvis would be happy...I don't think so. JMO

The sale of part of EPE to the Sillerman mob was the beginning of the end as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, Graceland needs to be a commercial enterprise to survive, but linking it with things like Cirque du Soleil (is there anything on the planet more boring than this pretentious crap?) and American Idol ('nuff said) means Graceland will eventually end up sort of like Disneyland.

The expansion of the visitor's centre is unnecessary. They will be able to handle the 30th anniversary crowd influx with no problems. The Heartbreak Hotel across the street is a bit iffy, and I'm sure there will eventually be theme parks and other rubbish.

All of this may come at the expense of Elvis the Artist, as Elvis the Product slowly takes over.

It'll just be a matter of time, folks. Mark my words. (n)

In spite of your "gloom & doom" I have to agree with you. ;)
But, we need to face the facts. Elvis was a "product" when Graceland opened its doors in 1982. It just seems to be getting more noticeable.....and no, I don't like it.

I wholeheartedly agree w/both of you....and it is sad...Elvis was more then a "product" and he was about generousity whereas this entity was all about money.

I posted this on Lisa's official forum and it was removed, which tells me a lot.

I think it is just horrible that they are moving the visitor center next to Graceland, forever changing the look and feel of what used to be his sanctuary...what next? Are they going to tear down part of the wall and people can just walk to the residence....???? So much for Pris saying that nothing will be added to the property, they might as well just build it right on the grounds.

This isn't new, them selling him...like you said this has been happening or in the works since Vernon left Pris in charge (what was he thinking? If Elvis wanted her to be involved he'd have placed her in the will)....they have just become more bold about it...

Thanks for your post Suzan I hope we get the chance to see that programme in England. As for Priscilla saying Elvis would be happy.........I don't think that is correct somehow, but what would I know.

I think it's about time someone started to stick up for Elvis and get him the respect he deserves from His Daughter, his Ex Wife ( not widow ) and Sillerman himself who I thought was a fan, but obviously not.

Your welcome. :)
I SO agree w/EVERYTHING you've said....I dislike it when they call her his widow...she walked away long time ago...and should no longer be involved, jmo.

That's what Sillerman said.....that the center will be moved across the street.
