A great, great suit from one of Elvis' most creative periods. Plenty of good memories were made when he wore this suit. Too bad he stopped wearing. By the way, I like the suit regardless of what belt he is wearing!

Anyone know, definitively, what the color is of the leather tabs on this suit? I initially assumed that they were black but, many years ago, somehow got it into my head that they were actually red (or some variant thereof, like perhaps a wine color). I even called the suit the 'red tab suit' until just lately.

Look at some of the color photos of this suit, including a couple posted above, and it looks like they may actually be dark brown. Any ideas? Black? Dark brown? Maybe some dark shade of red?

The Chain Jumpsuit is for me THE BEST. It's classy, not tacky like some of the others, abnd the only one i know of that still looks modern. Some of the others are great but look very 70s. When i buy my first jumpsuit it will be without a doubt this one.....!

Sabbath, and everybody else, let me please correct you.

The photos that Sabbath posted 03-11-2006, 09:50 AM are NOT from Las Vegas.
Sometimes it feels like you all take everything written for granted. Did any of you EVER see binoculars behind the band in Las Vegas???? Like in the photos Sabbath posted with the red macrame belt.
Those photos are from San Diego, November 15, 1970 and are very easy to recognize by the microphone and the red macrame belt.
This is the ONLY time we see Elvis wearing the chain suit with the red macrame belt.
I know that rumours tell that Elvis wore the red macrame belt during his September tour. I've read that he wore it in both Detroit and in Miami. IF the book "Elvis by Dagmar" is to be believed, Elvis wore the brown macrame belt during September 10, 11 and 12 evenig show. She photographed all three shows and ALL photos in her book show Elvis wearing the same belt, the brown one.
I'm not too sure which suit he wore at the shows in Tampa on the 13th as I've read that he wore both the chain suit with brown belt, the fringe suit and the metal eye suit with red macrame belt.

Hope you all still like to learn new facts about Elvis, just like I do.

I know a lot of fans prefer Elvis' later jumpsuits with all of the embellishments and large belts, but I've got to say that I always thought that the jumpsuits with the macrame belts where very sexy, especially the way the tassles whip around his legs when he 'gets it on' - as he would say or in other words, when he sings and dances. The tassels are almost like part of the routine the way he carefully flips them over his legs or as they swing around when he is doing his thing in time with the music. I saw a YT video where one woman grabbed the tassels and he was panicking saying "its tied on, its tied on" so that the woman would not pull him off of the stage and hurt himself or anyone else, which as I think about that -- that's not really a bad way to go, is it ladies?? Regardless, I am all for the tassels!!!!:P:P:P:P:P

But i Think Elvis had 2 wersions of the chain suit....take a look at some of the above pictures, look at the outside of the leggs under the knee... no leather patch with 4 chains henging down that it normally is on the Chain suit... but only nail on the one side of the legg insert split.

What picture do you mean?

To my knowledge Elvis wore the Chain Suit only 10 times, from August to November 1970. Why should he have had two versions? I think the problem is that in many pictures it's impossible to see the lower part of the legs and that the quality of the photos in detail in part to be desired. You can not see the chains exactly.

That he had a second version, I can't imagine.
