For some reason I have alays thought this suit was a bit strange. This is one of those very few jumpsuits that I never really got excited over. In fact, it's not very flattering either. :hmm:

Ive never really like this suit for some reason, I agree its not very flattering, it might be because Elvis doesnt look at his best in it and I associate it with that.

Here are a couple pics I took this past Aug. at Graceland. This suit actually features two shades of blue stones. Beautiful in person!

I agree, some jumpsuits are beautiful when you see them up close. Some stage pictures don't do justice to the stones and intricate artwork.

i THOUGHT THE SAME OF THIS SUIT UNTIL I SAW IT UP CLOSE AND IN PERSON, IT WAS REALLY BEAUTIFUL, a friend of mine sent me some video of ELVIS wearing it and it looks plain and uninspiring. By the way I'M looking for the title of DICK GROBS book but i forget the name can anyone help me the title name?

The "Elvis Conspirousy". I can really recommend that book. It will probably cost you a year to read it.

I have seen the suit worn by an ETA at a contest in England and all the other contestants commented how amazing the suit looked under stage lights,it also never did much for me in the pictures but to see it is to appreciate it,
i think that goes for many of the Emroidered suits also.

Nice pictures. This suite is a favorite of mine ! Elvis looked great in it in 1976 and '77. Wish he had worn it more often during these years.

i sure wished that he wore this suit for the CBS SPECIAL IN CONCERT, it would be more flattering for one, and agreat simple desighn that didn't show to much of the weight.

This suit, because of its vertical orientation, should slim Elvis down, instead, he looks like crap in it. If only he'd have worn this before all the weight gain. I like his simple suits, sometimes less is more.

I noticed that, there are holes for the chains but as far as I can see there were never any on this belt, even pictures from 1975 don't show any chains??
From some of the photo's I have of this suit it looks like the earliest time Elvis wore this was in Dec 1975, can you Imagine how this would have look on Elvis in Aug 1975?

This is BEAUTIFUL in person, but the pics of Elvis wearing it are not flattering at all. I also can't get into the sideburns he wore in this period. They are too "pointy" and cover up too much of his face.

If Elvis had of worn this in 1970 and the design was slimmer it would have looked a lot bet IMO.

I never thought this suit was anything special -- apparently, not an uncommon feeling -- and generally thought it not flattering to positively unflattering in the photos and video I'd seen of Elvis wearing the suit. Usually, though, these jumpsuits are far more beautiful to behold in person or in very detailed photos. Sure enough, the photos on page one of this thread, by thejumpsuitman and stefankoch, let us see the suit in a whole new light, as do a couple of excellent shots in the book Elvis Fashion.
The level of detail accorded Elvis' suits, in the most complex and busy designs and in the more simple ones, could never be appreciated in the vastness of a stadium but a close-up view in photos or in person can be like seeing the suit for the very first time. Elvis' jumpsuits were far more than mere stage costumes; they were works of art.

I agree, it's not the most flattering of suits given Elvis' weight problems in 1976-77 Imagine Elvis wearing this circa 1970-71 and I think it would have looked great.

I agree that he didn't look that great in it....or should I say it did not look good on him.
Even though I like the stones due to the fact that blue is my favorite color.I think he would have looked better in it around 70-72.
