Some of those in this advert should not be there. Because they wasn't born in 1973. I know it's done by computer and Noel Callagher (don't like him) is not in the same class as Elvis. Sorry.

Its not about who is in the same class because no one are(y)
Its the cool thing that they use Elvis as the face out for all the music and then all of them to work for him:D

Certainly well put together - still I never quite know how to react to these things...

Anyway, with the exception of Stevie Wonder, most of those cats don't rate with E.

I've seen this and I love it except that the Elvis voice is too much the exaggerated vocal caricature that all the impersonators use. The unfortunate thing is that so many people think he really sounded like that because of the impersonators. The producers sound like real fans and like people who would know better, and that makes me wonder if they did but went with the vocal 'talent' that they used because they knew people would identify with it more so than if they had a guy with a similar tonality to Elvis who was just talking normally.

I understand that is sort of the nature of imitation; you take the characteristics that are identifiable and most easily replicated and capitalize on those in hopes of it masking the difference in overall essence. Still, to me it sucks.

But again, very nice work otherwise.

I like this advert very much
I think they did a good job by making this advert.
It keeps Elvis memory alive

This idea is similar to the ideas that was used in Forrest Gump and Star Trek Deep Space Nine Episode Trials and Tribble-ations.

Forrest Gump as we all know had Forrest inacting with John Lennon, JFK, President Johnston, and several others.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine Episode Trails and Tribble-ations had the crew of Deep Space Nine inacting with the crew of the Original Starship Enterprise. Having Sisko inacting with Kirk or who ever.
This technology has been around for years.

The date is irrelevant. The point of the commercial was to advertise Radio 2 and highlight some of the acts that are on their playlist, not to simply pay tribute to Elvis or anyone else. Radio 2 plays music from all eras, but isn't an oldies station, so the advert naturally includes a mixture of old and modern acts.

When I saw the link , I was expecting some disrespectful nonsense but I thought it was well done.

I agree with you, Lonnie.

I said this when the clip came out and everyone else was singing its praises.

Yes, the intent is there, but the execution lacks, all because of the horrible voice. It *is* possible to pull off a convincing impersonation, with the right person. Kurt Russell did brilliantly in the John Carpenter TV movie. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, you rarely -- if ever -- hear that level of fidelity outside EP himself.

The ad was great. It boosted BBC RADIO 2 listeners by 500,000 to more than 12 Million ish :-) BBC TV said they received thousands of positive emails about it.

Kurt Russell is not my idea of an Elvis voice by a long shot. I disliked his depiction of Elvis anyway.

But Kurt is OK in other movies..especially the very funny one with his wife Goldie Hawn.

A matter of taste I suppose? :)

Its a great clip. I'll go a step farther, I told my brothers that one day a computer will be able to create any dead personality the voice-actions - looks. If that ever happens maybe in a way we'll hear new Elvis recordings and see new Elvis videos which really look and sound like him. I read they have come up with a way to again reduce the size of chips and to keep them cool which will easily double the computing speeds and capacity to hold data compared to the newest computers. The computer age is amazing.

Glad it's not just me that cringes at the sound of a wannabe Elvis speaking voice, Cryo.

Elvis & Marvin Gaye in the same place at the same time? My mom and I would both go crazy at that concert! It's very well put together(y) besides the stereotype voice
