Elvis Presley electrified the world and endeared himself to generations of fans with his talent, charisma, good looks, humor and genuine kindness.

Now the city of Honolulu, Hawaii will honor Elvis during the 30th anniversary year of his passing with a life-sized bronze sculpture.

The statue will commemorate the King?s 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. Created with the permission of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.

The statue will stand in the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, formerly known as the Honolulu International Center, site of the historic Aloha from Hawaii event.

Thanks Brian, that is really great news.

The story should generate some priceless publicity for Elvis and his wonderful music.

They didn?t take the plaque down
This past Thursday I visited the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Before I
left the issue of 'Elvis' name being removed from a plaque of those who helped
donate to the building of the memorial' was big around here. I investigated,
met some interesting people and got what I feel is the answer.

I met with Brad Baker who is the Public Affairs Officer. There never was a
plaque that listed those who helped in the donations, the actual recognition
for that concert is at the Musical Hall where the concert was held, this was
Elvis' wish. He didn't want a big deal made about his involvment once the
memorial was built. And there was never a plaque for anybody, so his name never
was up and then came off. The rumor that it would have been taken off because
of his drug problem is also not true, they respect those who gave and wouldn't
take them off for something like that.
