"Graceland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaMovies such as "Finding Graceland" have Presley as the central character and bear spiritual messages. There are over a thousand tribute songs to Elvis ...

This kind of adulation is kind of unique to Elvis. I know why. Do you?

Kate Bush's "King of the Mountain" is one of my favourites.

I don't know Dylan's song about Elvis, but Kate I believe is a far better singer.
Voted top female vocalist in the UK two years running.

Kate's Elvis related song received a lot of attention. Many articles in Q magazine have featured her extraordinary career. Our son and daughter are huge fan of her brilliant music too.

Kate bush is a better vocalist than Dylan.

Dylan is a far superior song writer.

Dylan has an Oscar. Musical tastes are entirely subjective though.

I'm sure Wikipedia or Google will have the details on Kate Bush's life and times, it seems to have everything. An invaluable source indeed.

Kate received a special honour recently for her contribution to popular music.

The books about her life are very interesting and she is a very intelligent lady..of Irish descent I'm glad to know.

Her comments about Elvis's fame were thoughtful and very nice indeed.

The list of songs about Elvis can be found on a search engine...maybe yahoo.com

Is this a Dylan vs Kate Bush thread? Well a... Bob Dylan was nomitaded for a Nobel Price on Literature, and no other rock or pop writter/singer have received so many high honors outside the music field as Dylan, and nobody on the music scene have ever speaked so greatfuly about Presley than Dylan, not even McCarntey, Lennon or Bono.

I don't personaly like Kate Bush music, but I respect her work and I think her comments about Elvis are great.

Neil Young also have a good song about Presley, somebody remember that tune?

Raised on Rock, I agree there is no versus anyone here, they all admired Elvis.

Dylan doesn't do much for me although he did write some great lyrics..that cannot be denied.

Yes the Neil Young song is very good too.

But I'm a sucker for a beautifiul voice though. And Kate is stunningly beautiful. I kissed her on the cheek in a HMV shop 1981 :-)

Had to go & look up some of these songs, I do love Black Velvet - loved it even before I realized it was about Elvis. Just read the words to Elton John's tribute song Porch Swing in Tupelo - I think that's the title - yikes - Oldtimer's settling in again! I haven't heard the musisc, that will be my next search. Looked up Neil Young's tribute song - my only response is "Huh?" I haven's seen the tribute movie - did anyone like it? I don't think the critics did. Drop some opinions in, please.

The Cowboy Junkies did a version of Elvis Sun Recording "Blue Moon" but they added some verses to it and they called it "Blue Moon (a song for Elvis)" I really like that one.

Neil Young: "I wrote a song about Elvis. I called Graceland and I said I'd written a song about Elvis. I'm a recording artist [laughter]. I'd like to use a picture of Elvis on the record but my art director called and you never got back to him so here I am calling you myself. It's a nice song. It's good. Can we have the picture? It's one of Elvis on a flat bed truck surrounded by girls with pony tails looking at him. Can we use it?'

'We'll get back to you.'

"I waited three weeks. I called back. And I called back again. Sure enough I got an answer. No. We don't allow photos of Elvis to be used with other artists' albums. I guess I can understand that. They didn't know Elvis. I wish I could have spoken to him directly. In the end we used a picture of a pink motel with a 57 pink Cadillac parked outside. So if you see that photo you'll know the story."

The song is called: "He was The King". Good title I believe...
