Can It Get Any Worse?

And isn't it EPE's primary objective to preserve the name, likeness and image of Elvis Presley ?

Ebay:

Elvis Presley with Real Coffin Just Like Famous Last Photo.

Extremely unusual item is composed of a ceramic elvis bust laid in a real Poplar wood casket, reproducing the well known last photo of the King.

The coffin was purchased new specifically for this display, which has been featured in a few local newspapers. This would make a great Halloween prop with or without Elvis.

The lot includes the casket, the Elvis bust and torso and the visitation hours sign.

I'm guessing there isn't much they'll be able to do about that one.

In any event, it's obscene to the point of grotesque.

Hi there,

When this was shared on a site I was on last October, I complained to Ebay. Of course the horrible site I was on, some of the people thought I was being oversensitive.

Ebay didn't do a thing when I complained to them.

This is one of the most distasteful things I have seen. It would be great if people on here complained to Ebay, perhaps masses of numbers may do something.

At least they spelt the name wrong.

Overly sensitive? You can't be too sensitive about something like this. That man (Elvis) was a father, a son, a husband, and friend amongst other things. Don't they realize what they're doing to his friends, family and fans when they do stuff like this? This is being disrespectful to Elvis as a human being. I bet you they'll be singing a different tune if someone made a replica of someone they knew and cared about and sold it on ebay!

Nothing EPE can do about this.It may be sickening but it's not breaking any rules on EBAY.You just have to ignore these things.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if this is offered on eBay or anywhere else.

There are a lot worse things, comments, websites and general stuff out there that denigrate Elvis each and every day. I've seen and heard all of these for the past 40 years almost, and if I got upset every time people did something like this, I'd have apoplexy.

It's best to just ignore crap like this. And there's absolutely nothing EPE can do about it either, so no point in alerting them.

Yes, it is distasteful and offensive to the memory of Elvis Presley as a man. But for Elvis Presley (the Product), there is little that can be done.

Personally, I find most of the souvenirs EPE offers just as distasteful, but in a different way not relating to the "death" aspect.

I saw this on ebay a while ago, so whether they're selling another one or it wasn't sold the first time, but I think it's disgusting that they can get away with selling something like this. Who in their right mind would want to buy it and display it. It does make me wonder what kind of sick people are out there  :cursing:  :cursing:

Of course not. The dummy pictured isn't actually Elvis (and it doesn't really even look like him, IMO) and there is no law that prevents them from displaying other pictures of Elvis with it.

Don't worry about this. Personally, I find that EPE-approved talking Elvis head much more offensive! (n)

Is a good point: to us, EP is a human being, to *****s such as selling that thing, EP is just a product.

Of course, it could be argued that EP allowed himself, primarily via the films, to be turned into a product for mass consumption; still, IMO, no one deserves this kind of degradation.

That such things do happen is truly a "Sign of the Times" (Prince).

The reason why I complained to Ebay and asked others to do so, is that it is easy to sit back and not do what is right.

Please don't look at this as scolding from me, it is just a view I have. If everyone cared just a little more for others, the world would be a better place.

It is the ones who stick up for what is wrong, who make the difference. (y)

I agree with you, Jess. When the funeral dirctors wife tried selling a piece of the pillow covering from the casket; many of us complained loud & long. It was removed without being sold.

I've worked in the medical field for years & am used to death. That's NOT what bothers me. It's the despicable way it makes fun of a man. (n)

this is down right
'AWFUL" e bay should bring this down, i'm sure E.P.E. would be rigt on their tale if it was something that was going to take from their profits, but i will give them the benefit of the doubt and contact E.P.E. this afternoon and tell them about it[lets see what they will say and do], again i hope they will at least try to do something.

Personally I am not offend by this nor surprised. The world is full of *****ic charlatans out to shock and of course make money in the process.

I'm only glad they haven't put they effigy in a Jumpsuit!

I wouldn't think that EPE would dignify this with a response and nor should we, it will run it's course if everyone ignores it, give it attention and it will flourish.

I saw this recreation of "Elvis in his coffin before, and it's very disrespectfull. What if one of our loved one died and the made a dummy of him/her in their casket? It would make me sick. I'm surprised Lisa Marie or Priscilla doesn't sue them. And Mr. Soden is suppose to keep on top of stuff like that. Atleast they didn't put a wick on the top of his head.:lmfao:(n)(n)(n)(n)
