A story about famous Cinema ushers including Elvis Presley on the link.

Elvis of course worked at Loew's in Memphis. He was sacked for hitting a fellow worker.

Thanks Brian, It just goes to demonstrate how the power of email can be harnessed by Elvis fans everywhere:)

It's fun too. Some Editors and journalist do not reply, but on the other hand many do and more messages are exchanged...we could become an Elvis Social Service (y)

"The Elvis Award: This would be the ushers? Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring one of their own in the spirit of Elvis Presley, who saved up some of his earliest money while working as an usher at a Loew?s Theater in Tupelo, Mississippi*. And since the career span of an usher is ? with a few exceptions ? much shorter than that of a Hollywood heavyweight, the honoree here would likely still be a spry twenty or thirty-something. [Presenter: aspiring usher Bob Dylan, who once famously said, "It?s been my lifelong ambition to be a movie usher, and I have failed, as far as I?m concerned."]

*Correction - 01/17/07: Per reader Maurice, Elvis moved to Memphis at the age of 13. And therefore, that is where he worked as an usher, not in his native Tupelo. FilmStew regrets the error."

MAURICE, YOU ARE THE MAN.......GREAT JOB BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!(y) :notworthy

The editor sent me an email saying their article was done on the fly:)Well, hopefully next time they decide to do an article on Elvis, they will think before they leap, and do the proper research first.

Well, hopefully next time they decide to do an article on Elvis, they will think before they leap, and do the proper research first.

Yes you are quite right. Sloppy research can lead to misleading articles. We see far too many. Even our local newpaper reporter is likely to need editing now and again. But she is almost an Elvis expert by now:)
