Well, first of all, both of these amazing men are one and alike and have that certain amazing charisma and whatever else that transcends them far far above anything that we can comprehend. Especially Elvis!!!!! But Muhammad has that certain magic personality and "everything" else as close to Elvis as anybody. They both gravitated towards each other as the 2 greatest personalities and performers of all time !!!!! One last thing that is comparable with both these men is their great athletisism and showmanship!

Today on Muhammad's birthday he was asked what brings him the most pleasure in life and he responded that watching his old fights was one of them and the other great pleasure that makes him happy is watching Elvis' movies!!!!!(y) :king: (y)

Thanks nolvis, Lovely fresh news!

And From USA Today:

He also listens to another icon.

"He watches film of a lot of his old fights," said Phoenix businessman Jimmy Walker, who has grown close to him in the 13 years since he founded Ali's annual fundraiser, Fight Night, in the battle against Parkinson's. "He watches Rocky and he listens to Elvis; I always hear Elvis in the background. He really likes Elvis a lot."

That kind of publicity helps to dispel the racist slur against Elvis..after all Muhammid Ali is one the most famous black Americans in the world. Great stuff!!!

I was looking for the famous picture of Ali & Elvis the other day when I came across this story. I had no idea that Elvis and Ali were such good friends.

As told by Ali:

"Few years ago, Elvis came to my training camp in Pennsylvania, stayed two weeks. Nobody knew about it. One night I said, 'Elvis, do me a favor. I got a guitar. Please come with me down to Pottsville, little town nearby, this redneck place called Spoonies.' I called the owner, told him to let us come in the back door. It was Saturday night, dancin' inside. Elvis went up to the mike, towel over his face, took it off" - and here Ali imitates - "'You ain't nothin' but a hound dog, cryin' all the time.' Then we flew out the door again. Can you imagine bein' in a little one-horse town and Elvis Presley runs on stage? Man, people ran all outta the place lookin', gettin' in cars, tryin' to find us. Elvis said 'Champ, I've never done that before in my life'."

Happy Birthday to The Champ.......

Yes, he gave him a robe. Here's another quote from Ali that includes the gift exchange. I found the quote at http://www.elvis.com.au/presley/legacy_cloudy_through_lens_of_race.shtml

"Elvis was my close personal friend. He came to my Deer Lake training camp about two years before he died. He told us he didn't want nobody to bother us. He wanted peace and quiet and I gave him a cabin in my camp and nobody even knew it. When the cameras started watching me train, he was up on the hill sleeping in the cabin. Elvis had a robe made for me. I don't admire nobody, but Elvis Presley was the sweetest, most humble and nicest man you'd want to know." - Muhammad Ali

The quote came from a TV Guide article written in 1979. The link is at http://www.trussel.com/hf/films.htm#T337

Scroll down to the TV Guide with Ali's picture and click on 'TV Guide Article by Dick Russell' if you want to read the entire interview.

I don't think Elvis took a trip for 2 weeks up to Ali however. I've checked with a few people and they don't recall it happening.

You're welcome.

Now you've peaked my curiosity. Who do you know that can verify Elvis' whereabouts in '75?

Any number of the guy's that were with him. I'm not here to name drop, but 3 of his friends have told me they don't recall it, and I won't type what they thought about Ali suggesting it took place either!

Well I got more respect for Ali than for many of Elvis close friends, anyway, Elvis was smarter than most of the people around him, if he wanted to disapear somewhere, he could have done it a hundred of times without nobody knowing about it.

If its true or not it is something that nobody except Elvis and Ali could know.

I work in pro boxing and lots of guys have told me stories about visiting Ali at his camp. He welcomed everyone in.

I've heard his Elvis story a bunch of times from lots of sources. its a great story but Ali loved to tell stories so whether or not its true...

Elvis gave him a robe styled after the jumpsuit worn on the Today album. Unfortunately Ali lost and never wore it again.

Unfortunately Elvis Presley couldn't just dissapear for 2 days, let alone 2 weeks.

Elvis' friends don't seem shy about giving interviews, writing books, and telling the world the most intimate aspects of his life (whether or not they're true...I don't know). Anyway, why would they care if you gave their names? If they can verify whether or not this meeting took place, I can't see any harm in giving the source.

Elvis Presley never dissapeared anywhere for two weeks.Basically his complete life timeline has been documented and completely analyzed. No way Elvis just snuck off to hang with Ali.It's an absurd suggestion.

Jak there's no talking to some people. They insist on believing that Elvis could dissapear! You are 100% correct.

My friend..you are no Elvis Presley. No offense, but to compare youre sneaking out of momma's house to Elvis Presley vanishing for 2 weeks is the best joke i've heard in a long time.

Well of course it was a joke, although Im sure you have heard better ones, but surely that was also a joke of yours my friend. My only point here is that sometimes to know "the true" about stuff like that is pretty much like: "is there really a God out there? and there it comes lots of strong arguments on both sides, but the true is that we have absolutely no idea even if some Aquinas belive they do, as well as some other with very scientifical proves will tell us it does not.

Well sure, Ali has a very active imagination, and so did Presley, and when you became prisioner of your own fame maybe you start living on your own dreams, but I've also heard of people sneaking out of much more worse prisions.

Chances are, yes, you probably are right Jack and Im not, and it must be so hard but oddly embarrasing at the same time to have all that power and have none... to see that two of my idols where actually freaks; the prisioner king and the mental escapist once on the ring.
