Back in late 2001, there were plans for 2002's big project to be the Ultimate Rock & Roll Album. But that idea was changed to the #1 Hits from both the US and UK combined to follow the same path taken by EMI with The Beatles 1. Therefore the rock album never materialized and was scrapped. So my question is this-will RCA go with the once planned Ultimate Rock album as the big 2007 release? If they do go this route, then it needs to be given special mixing treatment and ultimate mastering. It should also focus on real rock songs and not the usual soft rockers like All Shook Up and Don't Be Cruel. But it should feature more songs that rock like Shake, Rattle And Roll, Ready Teady, Ain't That Loving You Baby, Jailhouse Rock, A Big Hunk O' Love and feature 60's and 70's rockers like Little Sister, Wearin' That Loved On Look, Burning Love, Promised Land, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, and Washed My Hands In Muddy Water. That way they present the entire career and show the general public that EP still rocked in his later days beyond the 50's.
This in my opinion would be the ultimate collection of pure rockers from 1956-1973. The 12 best rockers from the 50's, the 7 best from the 60's, and the 6 best from the 70's all in one 25 track album. With the same amount of promotion and marketing as 30 #1 Hits had then this could be as successful and put EP back at the top. Maybe include a new remix to push the album even more.
