A read awhile back (jorgenson book?)that Elvis wanted to do an album comprising material recorded at his Dec 75 Vegas stand combined with material from '76 studio work.
Obviously the album never materialised, but I thought I might speculate (an compile my own disc) about the album contents....... since we have soundboards from the Dec 75 engagement and the 'jungle room sessions', does anyone want to have a go a creating a tracklisting?
I was thinking of keeping it to about ten titles, as this would be in keeping with albums from the era.

My tracklist is:

And I Love You So (Dec 13 MS)
Help Me Make It Through The Night (Dec 13 MS)
Just Pretend (Dec 13 MS)
Softly As I Leave You (Dec 13 MS)
America (Dec 13 MS)
Moody Blue (Jungle Room)
Love Coming Down (JR)
Danny Boy (JR)
It's Easy For You (JR)
Way Down (JR)
She Thinks I Still Care (take 4, Made In Memphis)

I can't come up with an album title??

My understanding was that the idea may have been to introduce songs into the line up for that engagement that had at that point not been released on previous albums by Elvis.

As it stands, 'America' together with 'Softly As I Leave You' appear to be the only two new introductions to meet that criteria, and were subsequently released as single 'b' sides.

Nevertheless, I think it's still an interesting concept to pool from the soundboard recordings of that engagment as you have here and couple them with some Jungle Room outtakes.

In addition to the live selections of your tracklist I would probably make room for 'You Gave Me A Mountain' and maybe kick it off with a live up tempo number even.

Nice concept for a compilation album, how about 'From The Bright Lights To The Boulevard' as a title ?

GREAT IDEA!!! (y)

The only problem with your tracklisting is that WAY DOWN and IT'S EASY FOR YOU weren't recorded until the October sessions, so you probably would have to replace those 2 songs with 2 others from the February sessions...perhaps the single from the EP BLVD. album (which was the album that this aborted idea took the place of) -- HURT and FOR THE HEART? :hmm:

Just a thought...

This sure would have been an awesome release if it was followed through. So many great tracks you've selected Larry !!! (y)

If It was me, I would add "How Great Thou Art" DEC 13 MS (imo, one of the best versions EVER done !!) and 'Tryin' To Get To You" from ftd Dinner At Eight...

I agree with you Cheif with regards How Great Thou Art and Tryin'......only thing is that these had been released only three years prior on Live In Memphis. So in keeping with this being an official 1977 release, I doubt RCA would have used these songs.
Thanks for your words Cheif.(y)
