New Tupelo Museum Is ReadyThe ?new? Tupelo Museum, next to Elvis' birth house, is ready and opens it's doors again on the January 8, 2007. Designer Scott Blake, who designed museums for the Kremlin and the Vatican, focuses on the story of Elvis' life in Tupelo using dramatic themes, artifacts, audio and video clips. Two-thirds of the exhibit highlight young Elvis and use muted colors and textures to tell that tale, while the last third showcases Elvis as a performer with vibrant hues and backdrops & original stage outfits to accentuate that part of his life. A special eyecatcher is a display signifying the special friendship between Janelle McComb and Elvis. McComb donated most of the memorabilia for the museum, which was given to her as a gift by Presley himself

sounds really good.

Im ashamed to say I've never been to Tupelo after going to Graceland 20 times or so.That will change this august when I go for Elvis week.I met Janelle McComb across from Graceland years ago.She was just sitting by herself on a bench.I recoginized her and struck up a conversation. She told me the strory of the precious gift and some other stories. She was extremely friendly and courteous to me.She truly loved Elvis and that was obvious.

Yes the museum has been refurbished.

We met Janelle McComb 9th August 2003. She was obviously not herself. We just said hello.

Looking forward to seeing photos of the modernised museum.

The Mockingbird Inn is a very nice Bed and Breakfast in Tupelo..just across the road from Milam School where Elvis attended. We spent a week there and often saw all the children arriving in the yellow school buses, and all sizes of cars....just a few came on foot. None carrying guitars:-(

We walked the streets Elvis did and took in the atmosphere. Tupelo has quite an interesting history.

Big day there on Monday!!!(y)
