Should Elvis's "Hound Dog" be played in the controversial movie or should it not be used? Story on the link.

I believe it should be heard. "Hound Dog" by Elvis is a Classic Rock 'n' Roll song sure to open a great many young ears to how exciting a singer Elvis really was.

I am totally 100% against Elvis' classic song being used in a movie about the rape of a young girl.(n) Elvis' music was always positive, and never broached such subjects, so why insert it into a movie of this type? The need for Lennon's songs in the movie "Chapter 27" are more obvious, because it's about Mark David Chapman, and he was obsessed with Lennon, and later assaninated him. Elvis' music has served wonderfully in movies over the years since his death, but this is one movie it doesn't deeserve to have a song of his in. I think that the makers of the film are just trying to lure audiences in because this just happens to be the 30th anniversary of Elvis' tragic death. I hope EPE, RCA/BMG, Priscilla, Lisa Marie, and Lieber and Stoller prevent "Hound Dog" from being used. It's the proper and decent thing to do.

The soundtrack to the movie "Psycho" became one of the most famous pieces of music in the world. It was used as people were murdered.

The soundtrack to "The Man With the Golden Arm" starring Sinatra playing a Drug Addict was also a very memorable piece of music used in squalid circumstances.

Richard Strauss the man who wrote the music Elvis used as a fanfare was the Nazi's most important composer.

I believe the young girl in the movie is an Elvis fan so we may hear many more Elvis songs and that would be a bonus. I'll have to read more about the movie to be sure.

Already the growing amount of publicity surrounding the movie will ensure it will get a lot of attention if released as planned.

From what I understand the the child in the movie uses Elvis' music to escape from the abuse.The subject matter may be disturbing but that doesnt mean it's going to be a poor film.I think anytime Elvis' music is used in a high profile project it's a plus.

We are talking about a film about a young girl being raped....Elvis' music has no business in such a film. It made more sense in "Lilio & Stitch" than it does here. Vulcandude, that's ok. I'd prefer to hear Elvis's classic song used in a movie with better subject matter but I'm a pragmatist and know it's an opportunity to get Elvis's music heard in the cinemas.

That particular young actress ruined "War of the Worlds" for me with her constant high pitched screaming!!!

Keep in mind that Elvis' music helps her cope with the abuse.It's a terrible subject but unfortunately a real one for many.It sounds like his music will be shown as a help to her.Like anything dont judge to harshly until we see.

I quite agree, if the music is used in a positive way and helps the girl then that is just like you or I using Elvis' music in good times or bad. I would be concerned if the films overall pitch is dark and sinister.

I don't have a problem with them using Elvis Music in the film. I don't like the subject matter, its not entertaining to me. I don't want to see a kid, especially not that kid who I've watched grow up on screen who I like get sexually abused. It would be too depressing.

So I'll take a pass on seeing this one .

I agree with Jak; even if the subjecy is not an easy one, Elvis' music helps the girl coping with the abuse, so it's used in a positive way. Plus, being a soundtrack of a movie can help young people to meet and know Elvis , so I'm in favour of that!

I would say that not every film is meant to be an uplifting experience.Maybe the people behind it want it to be a thought provoking film?If we only saw films that cheered us up or gave us a good feeling we would have missed some great classics.

Thats true Jak, but some people don't have the stomach for it. I Never had to deal with it, but I get overly empathetic to those kinds of stories and child abuse in general and I'm one of those I guess.

From what I have read about the movie there is not much graphic coverage of the child abuse. When you get to my age you have seen just about everything anyway!

On a news show Elvis was heard singing as civillians in Iraq were shot dead by "security" guys. It was caught on video. Life can be very brutal.

Thankfully Elvis music does help to comfort us.

I understand your view entirely and there is nothing wrong with it.I just hope the film shows what joy someone can get from Elvis' music even during a terrible time.I firmly believe that will be the case.Even though this is an independent film I really believe this is the kind of exposure Elvis' music needs.Dakota fanning is well known and I think it's a positive that Elvis' music was chosen.Let's just hope for the best.

Maybe people should read more about the movie before making a judgement. See the story on the link about the making of "HoundDog".

I don't think anyone likes the idea but we live in a world full of horror. We witness horrible scenes on TV News just about every night.

Rational people would not equate the music with the rape depicted in the movie.

I believe the more we hear Elvis's music in the cinema the better. If the young girl is an Elvis fans we should see quite a few images of Elvis too.

The Producers will love al the publicity and I doubt Leiber and Stoller or EPE will complain considering the royalties.
