Please can someone tell me the title of the song Elvis sings about the beginning of evolution that I've heard several times on TCB Radio? It's a spiritual song and I really love it. And does anyone know what CD it's on? Thanks, Diane

As Elvis's supposedly said about the song;

" It's as long as f***** life itself! "

"Life" goes like this (and as 03 hinted at, Elvis was apparently not that fond of the tune):

Somewhere out in empty space
Long before the human race
Something stirred
A vast and timeless source began
Intelligence was born and then
There was the Word
Powers filled the universe
Matter formed and broke the curse
Of nothingness
Love became an ageless soul
Nature reached her highest goal
And breathed the breath of life
Everlasting life

Creatures come from out of sight
Daylight came from in the night
And all was good
Life became a master plan
Love produced the perfect man
That understood
The image of the Maker's word
Worshiped him with all he had
But then one day
From in the depths an evil seed
Grew and manufactured greed
And changed the way of life
Everlasting life

The loving power looked and saw
Inside the heart of man a flaw
Began to grow
The fires of hell began to burn
And so he sent his chosen Son
To let us know
That love had surely made us all
And hate would surely make us fall
So from the cross
He showed the world that dreadful day
That love could be the only way
Or all is lost of life
Everlasting life
For life is love
And love is life

Thanks Lonniebealestreet for posting the words to Life. I can understand why Elvis may not have been too fond of this song where it mentions the fire of hell, not too keen on that myself, but he did such a great job of the song so I intend to buy it anyway. Diane

Thanks for posting the lyrics, but good grief, I think that song is longer than "T.R.O.U.B.L.E."........no wonder Elvis disliked it.

I think the song "Life" is underated. I love the lyrics of it and the sound. Especially the last part always gets to me. Maybe if people would take the time to listen to this song, life would be much more greater. I mean: people would be more tolorant and and nicer to eachother. For as the song says: life is love and love is life. And love can built any bridge between gaps. I think we Elvis-fans give a very good exsample of how the people should treat eachother: with respect and care. That's why I'm proud to be an Elvis-fan and to be a part of it.

it is a strange song - and a downright silly choice for a single. Not my favourite

I can see why Elvis wasn't very fond of it, many words to this song. I like it very much though !

I can't stand the song, and never could. Plain melody, no chorus, and it goes on and on and on and on and on and on ... and ON. (n)

One of my earliest Elvis books describes it as a "horrible pastiche of Darwinism set to music". Hmmm ... not exactly accurate, but interesting.

Elvis may have disliked it, but he still recorded it.

In fact, I'd have to say it's my least favourite Elvis track (and I'm a guy who actually likes Do The Clam!) (y) :lmfao:
